To register for A2P 10DLC or Toll-Free Verification, your EIN, legal business name, and business address must match exactly what the IRS (US) or CRA (Canada) has on file. Mismatches will cause carriers to reject your registration.

Here's where to find each one.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ US Businesses

EIN (Employer Identification Number)

A 9-digit number from the IRS, formatted XX-XXXXXXX. Find it on:

  • Your IRS CP-575 confirmation letter (issued when you got your EIN)

  • A previous federal tax return

  • Your business bank account documents

Lost it? Call the IRS at 1-800-829-4933 and request a 147C letter (the official replacement for a CP-575).

Legal business name

The official name registered with the IRS β€” not your DBA or brand name. Punctuation and abbreviations (LLC, Inc.) must match exactly. Find it on your CP-575, Articles of Incorporation, or most recent federal tax return.

Business address

The address on file with the IRS for your EIN. Find it on your CP-575 or any IRS correspondence.

πŸ’‘ If you've moved, file IRS Form 8822-B to update your address before submitting your Salesmsg registration.

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Canadian Businesses

Business Number (BN)

A 9-digit number from the CRA. Enter this in the EIN field. Find it on:

  • Your CRA My Business Account (welcome page)

  • Your CRA registration confirmation or any CRA letter

  • Your provincial registration documents (if you registered through Ontario, BC, NS, SK, NB, MB, or PEI)

Lost it? Call the CRA at 1-800-959-5525.

Legal business name

The name registered with the CRA, exactly as it appears on your Articles of Incorporation or CRA My Business Account.

Business address

The address on file with the CRA. Find it in your CRA My Business Account or on recent CRA correspondence.

πŸ’‘ If your address has changed, update it with the CRA before submitting your registration.
