π Register Your 10DLC Number π
How do I register for A2P 10DLC with Salesmsg?
When you're ready to upgrade from your Salesmsg trial, you'll be prompted to either verify the toll-free number that came with the trial, or select a new 10-Digit Long Code number (referred to as a 10DLC number - any phone number with a local area code).
β
If you choose to move forward with a local area code phone number, you'll be required to register and be approved for A2P 10DLC compliance.
β
In this guide, we'll go over step-by-step what you'll need to successfully submit your 10DLC registration!
β
Here's an overview of what you'll need to provide during the registration process:
β
β1. Who you are (Your business or organization details)
2. The types of messages you intend to send (e.g. Account Notifications, Customer Care, Marketing, Mixed, etc.)
3. Your opt-in workflow (Where does an end-user go, and what steps do they take, in order to opt-in to receive texts from your business or organization)
Step 1: Determining your 10DLC package
There are two types of 10DLC Packages to choose from. You'll need this for Step 3, but we recommend determining this first.
Determining the 10DLC package best suited for you, will depend on your business status (EIN, or no EIN) and your anticipated daily usage, as follows:
*Note: Hobbyists and sole proprietors who do not have an EIN will need to use Toll-Free numbers for texting via Salesmsg.
Low Volume Standard Package | Standard Package |
|
|
*A message segment is considered a text of 160 characters or less.
Not exactly sure? Don't worry! Ask our customer support team on LIVE chat, and they can help determine which package is right for you.
Step 2: Register Your Business Profile
An Admin, or Owner of the account can complete the Business Profile section in a few simple steps.

β

2.2 General Info

Address Fields: Street address, city, state...etc.
Be sure to attach your EIN letter (IRS Form CP-575) on this page as well, and click Continue
β
2.3 Business Type
In this step, we're taking a deeper dive into your business info. No sweat though, we're still keeping it simple.
Business Type**: How is your entity structured? This is more of a tax or accounting thing. If you're unsure, just select LLC.
Business Industry: the industry in which your business operates
Website URL - You'll need a valid website to register. If you don't have an official website and are using a Facebook page, then paste that URL here instead.
Social Media Profile (OPTIONAL) - Do you have a Facebook page, Instagram account, or Twitter? Add the URL here. If you don't have one, go ahead and spin one up real quick.
Business Regions of Operations - Where do you do business? If you have customers all around the world, go ahead and click all the boxes. Otherwise, just select the ones where your customers are primarily located.
2.4 Points of Contact
We need to know who's in charge -- the big cheese, the boss, the leader.
β
First and last name: of the authorized point of contact
Business Title - We're just making sure you're in a position to make important decisions. So, president, founder, executive, manager, or even boss are legit options.
Job Position - Pick CEO if you're unsure of your role. It looks good on a resume.
Business email - the preferred email for the point of contact
Mobile Phone Number - the preferred phone number for the point of contact - Must be a valid mobile phone number - no VoIPs or landline phone numbers
Once you submit your Business Profile, and it will be sent for review. Once your Business profile is "In Review" you can move onto Step 3: the 10DLC Brand & Campaign Registration step.
β
Step 3: Register Your Brand & Campaign Use Case

3.1 Brand - Selecting a 10DLC Package
In this part of the registration, you'll need to select the 10DLC package that will best suit your business:
- If your company plans to send less than 2,000 message segments per day
- If you anticipate sending more than 2,000 message segments per day
β
βRegistration steps are as follows:

If you choose a "Public" Business Type, you'll get a secondary option to input your Company Stock Ticker Symbol, and the Stock exchange
β
β
3.2 - Registering Your Campaign Use Case:
β
The use case is why you're sending texts to your customers. If unsure, we encourage users to check out the FAQ section below, for more information on Use Case types.
β
Next, provide a Use Case Description. This tells the carriers, what your business does or offers, and how the Use Case you selected, applies to your business.
β
Ex. "As a paper and office supplies wholesale company, we'll send Delivery Notifications to provide tracking, and updates on our customers' shipment."
ββ
Provide two samples messages of the types of texts you'll be sending. You can also see a list of up to 10 outbound real messages you sent out to your contacts to select from:
β
π‘ Pro tip Use the following tips to craft sample messages that demonstrate you'll be adhering to SMS best practices:Address people by name: You can use {first.name}
Sender ID: What business is being represented? "It's the Salesmsg team"
Call-to-action: Why are you sending the text? What's the action to be taken?
Opt-out verbiage: "Reply STOP to end" - should be included on all first outbound messages
β
Select your Opt-in method(s). This can be via Text (text-to-join Keyword) , Online Form, Paper Form, or QR Code.
β
β*Note: The opt-in method is where your end-users initially provided your their phone number, and gave permission for your business to send them texts. Opt-in consent is a requirement.
βOpt-In Method Description. This is how your end-users opt-in to receive text messages. Please describe where an end-user goes, and what steps they take in order to opt-in to receive texts from your business.
β
β*Note: If you are using a web form to collect SMS consent, your description should include the website URL that points to that web form.
β
Ex. "End users opt-in by visiting {Your Website URL Link HERE} and adding their phone number. They check a box agreeing to receive texts messages from {Your Business Name HERE}."
βLastly, provide images of what the opt-in looks like. This is where the end-user gives you their phone number, and agrees to receive SMS from your business.
β
*Note: This image should show your business name, a phone number field, the user consent, and the link to your Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
User consent should state that the user agrees to receive the messages to the provided phone number and suggest an opt-out method.
β
Ex. (not for personal use):Final step - Submit your application!
Step 4: A2P 10DLC Registration Status
Okay, soβ¦whatβs next? Thumb twiddling?
Hereβs the status: we have your information, and thatβs all we need. Now, weβve just got to sit tight and wait for the carriers to receive, review, and move your information through their systems.
If at any point, you're curious about the status, feel free to check your Compliance page in Salesmsg for the latest update.
βAs long as you provided all relevant information on 1. Who you are 2. The types of messages you intend to send 3. Your opt-in workflow, your submission should go through within 5-7 business days - and in some cases, sooner!
Once Salesmsg and your Contacts' Carrier Networks review your information you will be provided a Trust Score you can reference on your Organization Settings. Your trust score is an indicator of how many messages you can send without worrying about Carrier Filtering.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is A2P 10DLC?
A2P (application-to-person) messaging is the process of sending text messages from an application, like Salesmsg, via 10DLC (10-digit long code) phone numbers, otherwise known as a phone number with a local area code.
A2P 10DLC registration, means that your local phone number is registered through a third-party organization called The Campaign Registry (TCR). This compliance was started by the major carriers to help weed out spam sent by bad actors, while making sure legitimate businesses continue to get their messages delivered.
