Connect your Shopify store to Salesmsg to text your customers, keep contact details in sync, and send messages automatically from your Shopify workflows. Your store data and your conversations stay connected, so you spend less time copying information between tools.
How it works
The Shopify integration gives you three ways to work with your store customers:
Send texts from Shopify Flow. Add Salesmsg actions to your Shopify Flow workflows to send an SMS or create and update contacts automatically.
Keep customers and contacts in sync. Customer details stay up to date in both Shopify and Salesmsg for any contact linked to a Shopify customer.
Find and message any Shopify customer. Search your Shopify customers from Salesmsg and start a conversation, even if they aren't a Salesmsg contact yet.
Connect your Shopify store
In Salesmsg, go to Settings and select Integrations.
Find Shopify and click Connect.
Sign in to your Shopify store when prompted.
Review the requested permissions and click Install to approve the connection.
You'll return to Salesmsg, where Shopify now shows as Connected.
Disconnect Shopify
Go to Settings and select Integrations.
Find Shopify and click Disconnect.
Disconnecting stops syncing and removes Salesmsg actions from your Shopify workflows.
Send texts from Shopify Flow
Once you connect, Salesmsg actions become available in Shopify Flow. This lets your store events trigger texts without any manual work.
In your Shopify admin, open Flow.
Create a new workflow or open an existing one.
Choose the trigger you want, such as a new order or a new customer.
Click Add action and select Salesmsg.
Choose an action:
Send SMS to text the customer
Create/Update Contact to add or update the customer in Salesmsg
Fill in the action details and click Save.
Turn the workflow on.
Keep customers and contacts in sync
When a Salesmsg contact is linked to a Shopify customer, changes in either place carry over to the other. Update a phone number or name in Shopify, and your Salesmsg contact updates too. The same works in reverse.
Syncing only applies to contacts that are linked to a Shopify customer.
Contacts you created in Salesmsg without a Shopify link are not sent to Shopify.
A contact becomes linked when it's created through a Shopify Flow action or through a Shopify customer search.
Find and message Shopify customers
You can reach any customer in your Shopify store, even if they aren't a Salesmsg contact yet.
Start a new conversation or open the contact search.
Search by name, phone number, or email.
Select a result marked as a Shopify customer.
Send your message.
When you message a Shopify customer this way, Salesmsg creates a contact for them. That contact is linked to their Shopify customer record, so it stays in sync from then on.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a paid Shopify plan to use Shopify Flow?
Shopify Flow availability depends on your Shopify plan. Check your Shopify plan details to confirm Flow is included.
Will all my Shopify customers be imported into Salesmsg?
No. Only customers you add through a Flow action or message through search become Salesmsg contacts. This keeps your contact list focused on the customers you actually talk to.
Can I send texts to customers who haven't opted in?
Only text customers who have given consent to receive messages. See our SMS opt-in guides for compliance best practices.
