Written by Operations Manager

Sherpa AI is the AI assistant inside Salesmessage. From one panel beside the app, you ask in your own words and it gets the job done: it walks you through account setup, replies to conversations and sends messages, builds broadcasts, takes you to any screen, and explains your 10DLC compliance.

It is built for new account owners and teammates who are getting started, and for anyone who texts, calls or sends broadcasts and wants help without digging through menus. Its answers come from the Salesmessage Help Center, so its guidance matches what you see in the app.

A text drafted by Sherpa AI on the Send this message? card, with To, From, Approve and Deny, awaiting approval.

Sherpa AI takes action in the app for you, but it checks with you before anything is sent: nothing goes out until you approve it.

Getting started with Sherpa AI

Everything happens in one conversation with Sherpa AI, so the first step is the same for every task.

Step 1: Open the Sherpa AI panel

Click Sherpa AI to open the assistant panel beside the screen you are on. The app stays open behind it, so you can watch Sherpa AI work.

Click Restart at the top of the panel to start a new conversation, or the X to close the panel.

Step 2: Ask in your own words

Type your request in the Ask the assistant... box and press Enter or click the send button. Say what you want done, for example "Take me to inbox settings" or "Where do I stand on my onboarding checklist?"

Step 3: Follow each action it runs

Sherpa AI shows every action it runs in the app as a row, such as Search contacts or Navigate, with its status. Then it answers in the panel.

Status

What it means

Completed

The action is done.

Awaiting Approval

Sherpa AI is waiting for you before it sends anything.

Set up your account with guided onboarding

Sherpa AI follows your onboarding checklist, so new owners and teammates can go from a new account to their first conversation one step at a time.

Step 1: Ask where you stand

Ask, for example, "Where do I stand on each step of my onboarding checklist?" Sherpa AI runs Check onboarding status and tells you which steps are done and which are left.

Sherpa AI runs Check onboarding status and says which onboarding checklist steps are complete.

Step 2: Work through the next step

Ask Sherpa AI to help with what is left. It opens the right screen for each step and guides you through it:

  • Take a welcome tour

  • Get your first phone number

  • Add or import contacts

  • Make your first call

  • Set up your AI Agent

It explains contact imports and AI Agent setup the same way the app does. When you are set up, it points you to live webinars and training to keep learning.

Reply to conversations and send messages

Ask Sherpa AI to answer an unread conversation or to text any contact, and it drafts the message for you to approve.

Step 1: Say who to text and what to say

Describe the message, for example: "Find my most recently added contact and text them from the Demo Box inbox: Thanks for reaching out! We'll follow up tomorrow morning."

Sherpa AI runs Search contacts and List inboxes to find the contact and the sending number, then drafts the message. You can also ask it to find your unread conversations and reply to them.

Sherpa AI runs Search contacts and List inboxes, then drafts the text on an approval card.

Step 2: Approve the message

The draft waits on the Send this message? card, with Send message marked Awaiting Approval. Check it before it goes out:

  • To
The contact who will receive the message.

  • From
The number the message is sent from.

Click Approve to send the message, or Deny to cancel it.

Note: If a send fails, Sherpa AI tells you right away in the panel.

Build a broadcast by describing it

Tell Sherpa AI what to send and when, and it fills in the broadcast form for you to review.

Step 1: Describe the broadcast

Give it the details in one request: a name, the inbox to send from, the contacts or tag to send to, the message, and the day and time. For example: "Create a broadcast named Holiday hours from the Demo Box inbox to contacts tagged Live Demo Again that says: Our office is closed Friday for the holiday. Schedule it for Monday, November 2 at 10 AM."

Sherpa AI opens the broadcast form and fills in Send from, Contacts, the message and Schedule with the day and time you asked for.

The broadcast form filled in by Sherpa AI: Send from, Contacts, the message and a scheduled day and time.

Step 2: Review and schedule it yourself

Check every field and change anything you need. When it looks right, click Review & schedule to schedule or send it. You review every broadcast before it goes out.

Note: On a trial account, Sherpa AI calls out the trial account limits before you launch a broadcast.

Go to any screen by asking

Skip the menus: ask Sherpa AI to take you anywhere in Salesmessage, from inbox settings to compliance.

Step 1: Ask to go there

Ask, for example, "Take me to inbox settings". Sherpa AI runs Navigate and the app opens that screen behind the panel.

Step 2: Ask what it can help with here

Once the screen is open, ask "What can you help me with here?" Sherpa AI tells you what it can do on that screen, such as configuring an inbox.

Sherpa AI opens Inbox settings on request, then says it can help configure an inbox, including voice and calling.

Note: Sherpa AI respects each user's role, so teammates only reach the areas their permissions allow.

Understand your 10DLC compliance

Sherpa AI reads your account's compliance status and explains where your 10DLC registration stands, with answers from the Salesmessage Help Center.

Step 1: Check your compliance status

Ask, for example, "Check my 10DLC compliance status and list the registration steps in order." Sherpa AI runs Check compliance status and lists each registration step with its status.

Sherpa AI lists the compliance registration steps in order, with the status of each and what still needs action.

Step 2: Learn what to do next

Ask follow-up questions in the same conversation:

  • What 10DLC is
What 10DLC means and why it matters.

  • The registration order
Each step of the 10DLC registration, in order.

  • Unregistered numbers
Sherpa AI alerts you when a local number is not registered yet.

  • Carrier filtering
Help when carrier filtering blocks a message.

Note: Sherpa AI explains 10DLC and shows your status. It does not register you, and it cannot guarantee message delivery.
