Managing Phone Numbers in Salesmsg: A Simple Guide

Salesmsg has revamped its phone number management system to offer a more intuitive and efficient experience. Here's how you can easily buy, assign, and track your phone numbers.

What’s New?

The Numbers page now features a modern, customizable table that allows you to:

  • View and sort your numbers by type, status, provider, and assignment.

  • Filter numbers based on your preferences.

  • Quickly access actions like Buy, Assign, Port, Release, and Refresh directly from the table view.

This redesign provides better visibility and control over your phone numbers, making it easier to manage them at scale.

Note: The Status only applies to Toll-free numbers, and whether they're "Verified" or "Unverified"

➕ Adding a Phone Number

You have several options to add a phone number to your Salesmsg account:

1. Buying a New Number

  • Choose between Local or Toll-Free numbers.

  • Filter by country, state, or ZIP code to find a number that fits your exact location.

  • Once you’ve selected the right number, you can instantly assign it to an inbox, complete the payment, and start using it for messaging and calling.

2. Text-Enable a Landline

You can enable SMS on your existing landline number without changing your voice service. The process involves:

  • Entering your landline phone number.

  • Providing billing information.

  • Verifying ownership with a quick phone call.

  • Submitting a signed Letter of Authorization.

This process typically takes about 2–3 business days.

3. Porting an Existing Number

If you want to transfer your existing number (from providers like Twilio, RingCentral, or your mobile carrier) into Salesmsg, you can do so by:

  • Ensuring your number is active and ready for transfer.

  • Submitting a porting request through Salesmsg.

Porting typically takes between 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your current provider.

➕ Adding a Number from an App

You can now easily add numbers from supported apps directly into Salesmsg.

How it works:

  • Connect your Aircall number through the Salesmsg app.

  • Get it approved quickly within the app.

  • Start texting and calling right away using Salesmsg—no extra setup needed.

Why it’s useful:

  • Brings your existing numbers into Salesmsg seamlessly.

  • Keeps your communication workflow in one place.

More Provider Options:

  • Salesmsg now supports Aircall, so you can sync numbers from your existing voice provider.

Note: Zipwhip is no longer supported and cannot be used as a provider.

Smarter License Management

In Salesmsg, a phone number license is really just a slot for a phone number.

With the updated license tracking, you can:

  • See all your phone number slots at a glance.

  • Monitor usage to know which numbers are active and which slots are available.

  • Add new numbers or make adjustments without any guesswork.

No surprises - just a clear view of how your phone number “slots” are being used, making it easier to manage your account and plan for growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I assign a number to more than one inbox?
No. Each number can only be assigned to one inbox at a time. If you need multiple users to access the same number, we recommend using a shared inbox or group inbox.

How long does it take to port a number into Salesmsg?
Porting typically takes between 3 to 7 business days, depending on your current provider and how quickly they release the number. You'll receive updates from our team throughout the process.

Can I release a number after I’ve purchased it?
Yes. If you no longer need a number, you can release it from the numbers table if needed, Keep in mind that released numbers cannot be recovered once removed.

Will my existing conversations transfer if I port a number into Salesmsg?
No. Porting your number does not transfer message history from your previous provider. Only new messages and calls will appear in Salesmsg after the number is fully ported and active.

Can I add numbers from Aircall?
Yes. Aircall is now supported as a provider in Salesmsg.

How do I refresh a number’s status?
Click the three-dot menu next to a number and select Refresh.

Is Zipwhip still available?
No. Zipwhip has been removed from the list of supported providers.

Can I import my Twilio numbers?
Yes. You can now import Twilio numbers directly into your Salesmsg account.
