Call Disposition lets you tag each call with its outcome, such as Connected, Left voicemail, or Callback requested. Your team gets a consistent record of how every call went, visible right in the conversation and the Calls tab. If you use HubSpot, your dispositions sync there automatically, so you never have to log outcomes twice.

Turn On Call Disposition

  1. Go to Settings > Organization > Calling.

  2. Turn on the Call Disposition toggle.

That's it. The setting applies to every inbox in your organization right away. You don't need to set it up inbox by inbox, and your team doesn't need to refresh the page.

Choose Where Your Disposition Options Come From

The options you see depend on whether HubSpot is connected.

Without HubSpot

Salesmsg gives you a ready-made list of dispositions:

  • Busy

  • Connected

  • Left live message

  • Left voicemail

  • No answer

  • Wrong number

  • Answered

  • Callback requested

  • Transferred

  • Missed

This list is fixed. You can't add, edit, or remove options.

With HubSpot

If HubSpot is connected and Call Outcome is turned on in HubSpot, Salesmsg uses your HubSpot call outcomes instead of the default list. This keeps both systems speaking the same language.

  • Your HubSpot options refresh at the start of every call, so any changes you make in HubSpot show up on your next call.

  • An Auto-detect option is selected by default.

  • The disposition you choose syncs to HubSpot as the call's outcome on the call timeline.

  • If your HubSpot outcome list is empty, Salesmsg shows its default list instead.

If HubSpot is connected but Call Outcome is turned off in HubSpot, you'll see the Salesmsg default list.

Set a Disposition on a Call

You can pick a disposition during the call or after it ends.

  1. Open the Disposition field in the call window.

  2. Search or scroll to find the right option.

  3. Select a disposition.

  4. Close the call window when you're done.

Your choice saves right away. After the call ends, the window stays open so you can review or change the disposition, add a note, and see call details like the inbox, contact, duration, and call status.

If you use HubSpot with Call Type turned on, you'll choose the call type first, then the disposition.

Don't want to set one? Skip it. Nothing will show for that call.

Finish Up Before Your Next Call

You can't start a new call until you close the current call window. This helps make sure every call gets logged before you move on.

This also applies in Power Dialer campaigns. After each call, set your disposition and close the window to continue to the next contact.

See Dispositions in Your Call History

Once saved, the disposition appears next to the call in:

  • The conversation history

  • The Calls tab

Calls placed from the HubSpot calling widget also show their HubSpot call outcome in the conversation history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I create my own list of dispositions?
Not at this time. You can use the Salesmsg default list, or connect HubSpot to use the call outcomes you've set up there.

Why do I see different options than the default list?
Your organization has HubSpot connected with Call Outcome turned on. Salesmsg pulls your options from HubSpot.

Why can't I start my next call?
The window from your last call is still open. Close it to start a new call.

Can I turn this on for just one inbox?
No. Call Disposition is an organization-wide setting that applies to all inboxes.
