Which of my own numbers can I bring to Salesmsg?

If you have a true landline phone number, (local or Toll-free) we can definitely text-enable/"Host" that number.

For mobile phone numbers, there isn't a way to Host that type of number, and chances are you won't want to "Port" it to Salesmsg, as porting requires moving both calling and texting features away from your current mobile carrier.

If you have a VoIP phone number, (local or Toll-free) we can sometimes text-enable those numbers. Reach out to our Support team via live chat or email to find out if we can text-enable your number.

  • ✅ Landline

  • 🚫 Mobile

  • 🟡 VOIP

❗️When bringing a local phone number into Salesmsg for purposes of texting U.S. recipients, it's important to note that you must first be approved for texting compliance (A2P 10DLC).

What's the process of text enabling my landline look like?

Salesmsg provides a way for you in app, to verify that you own the landline, and then authorize texting for your landline number. View the entire landline text enabling process, here.

Can I use my mobile number?

Sadly, no. Since your mobile phones' sms is hosted by your mobile carrier, we are not able to host texting through our app with your mobile number. Learn more here on why you can't "text-enable" your cell phone number.

Can I text enable my VoIP number?

There are certain VoIP technology carriers that we do have the ability to host for SMS. Please contact our support team via live chat or by emailing [email protected] to find out if we can text-enable your number.

What do I do if my VoIP phone number is unsupported?

If we find that your phone number is ineligible, you may still be in luck! Your carrier will have to release the "SPID port" on your phone number which gives Salesmsg the ability to host SMS on your behalf. Here are the steps you'll need to take:

  1. Contact the current carrier and speak with the department responsible for routing SMS traffic. Express your desire to transfer your SMS traffic to Twilio (our carrier).

  2. File a request with your carrier to delete the existing SMS routing profile on the number (also known as "SPID").

*Please note that your current provider has no obligation to fulfill this request, as they have rightful ownership of the numbers SMS traffic while they are the voice provider.

Will text enabling my landline affect my voice line?

No, text enabling doesn't affect the voice capabilities of your landline. Salesmsg only hosts the SMS capabilities on your landline number. Your voice provider services will remain the same and text-enabling your number will not interfere with your voice plan.

What does hosting SMS on my landline mean?

Hosting SMS means Salesmsg provides the text messaging service for your number, which doesn't affect your voice capabilities or service at all.

How long does it take to text enable my number?

If you complete the phone verification call and sign the letter of authorization, text enabling a landline number can take up to 1 business day after we test inbound connectivity, and provision to your account. Toll-Free numbers can take up to 3 business days to update.

Can I switch out my Salesmsg number to use my landline number?

Yes. If you decide later that you want to use your landline number, you can start the process in app ➡️ here ⬅️. Once you've added the landline, contact our support team to help you remove the old Inbox, and delete the previous number.

Can I text enable a toll-free number?

Yes, however we only support US and Canadian Toll-free numbers that are only compatible for SMS and not MMS.

What if I no longer want to text from my landline?

Because hosted texting doesn't interfere with your voice provider, you can chose to stop texting with your landline number at anytime. Please contact our support team if you wish to change your number or stop texting from your landline.
